Homework Policy

Consolidate and extend classroom learning to strengthen and stimulate learning interest outside the classroom.

Help students construct knowledge so that they can apply the skills they have learned.

Assist students to plan and monitor their own learning progress; cultivate the ability and self-discipline of spontaneous and independent learning.

Students can identify and understand the areas they need to improve in their studies.

Assess student learning performance in terms of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values.

Identify students' learning difficulties so as to adjust teaching strategies or progress.

The topics are interesting and can arouse students' motivation to study.

It can help students to construct knowledge and apply the acquired skills.

It can stimulate students' thinking and allow students to cultivate high-level thinking skills and creativity.

Students’ learning diversity should be considered when designing the homework and the types of questions should be diversified, including questions of a basic level as well as more challenging questions.

Pre-learning tasks can cultivate students' self-learning ability and good learning habits.

Extended homework can consolidate the learning content and cultivate the habit of extended learning.

In line with the students' life experience, students can learn and make use of the knowledge in the classroom.

Diversified types of homework can evaluate students' learning performance from different perspectives.

Develop good reading habits through regular reading.

Homework is assigned in the main subjects (Chinese, English and Mathematics) every day.

Classes with more able students may have more learning practices.

Homework is given appropriately according to students' abilities, such as breaking big learning tasks down into small and more manageable pieces to cater for students’ need.

Students in P1 and P2 should not spend more than 1 hour on homework per day. Students in P3 and P4 should not spend more than 1.5 hours on homework per day.  Students in P5 and P6 should not spend more than 2 hours on homework per day.

Parents need to clearly understand the purpose and the requirements of homework and provide appropriate guidance to their children.

Parents are required to sign for all Chinese dictations and assessment papers of all subjects.

Parents need to understand the learning performance of their children so as to provide timely support. They should also encourage their children and show appreciation towards the effort paid by their children.  

If students fail to submit their homework on time frequently, teachers will contact their parents to discuss the improvement measures.
